Health projects in Africa: strengthening medical care in rural regions
Health – strengthening preventive care, protecting lives
Health is the foundation of all social development. Without medical care, neither education nor economic prospects can flourish. That is why Anula focuses its efforts precisely where support is most urgently needed: strengthening local health structures.
What we support
- Equipping hospitals and health stations Providing medical supplies, equipment and basic infrastructure.
- Mobile medical services Support for midwives, nurses and health teams who reach people in remote regions.
- Programmes to reduce child and maternal mortality Education, preventive care and medical support for families in rural areas.
Why this work is so important
In many regions of Cameroon, the journey to the nearest medical centre is long and arduous. The lack of paved roads, difficult terrain and inadequate transport options mean that people often do not receive help in time in an emergency.
By expanding the health infrastructure, we are shortening these distances – and thus creating access to life-saving care.
Current projects
Centre Médical Catholique Saint Laurent, Bafou (Cameroon)
Centre de Santé Royal communautaire de Bafou
Anula supports the establishment and further development of this medical centre. The objectives are:
- Expansion of basic care
- Improving diagnostic and treatment equipment
- Strengthening obstetric care
- Ensuring reliable healthcare provision for the entire region in the long term
This project is an important step towards providing people in Bafou and the surrounding villages with medical care that would otherwise be unattainable.
Supporting hospitals in rural areas: Strengthening medical care in Africa
🏥 Support for hospitals in rural areas
In many rural regions of Cameroon, access to medical care is severely limited. A lack of infrastructure, long travel distances and high treatment costs mean that people do not seek medical attention even when they are seriously ill. This is where Anula comes in.
What we do
Anula provides comprehensive support to hospitals in rural areas – from structural development to ensuring ongoing operations:
- Construction and expansion of medical facilities Support for the construction, renovation and structural development of health centres.
- Supplying medical materials and equipment Provision of diagnostic and treatment technology, consumables and basic infrastructure.
- Financing medical personnel Covering personnel costs to ensure continuous care and improve the quality of treatment.
Why this is important
Many people avoid going to the doctor for fear of high costs. By easing the financial burden on facilities, Anula helps to keep treatment costs for patients as low as possible. This makes medical care accessible, affordable and reliable – even for low-income families.
Promoting self-employment in Africa: Anula's projects for work and economic prospects
Work – promoting self-employment, creating opportunities
Sustainable development occurs where people have the opportunity to earn their own living. Economic independence strengthens not only individual families, but entire communities. That is why Anula specifically supports initiatives that generate income, promote entrepreneurship and strengthen local markets.
What we support
Business start-ups through advice and start-up loans
Anula accompanies people on their path to self-employment – from the initial idea to implementation. This includes:
- Individual advice
- business management basics
- Start-up loans for setting up small businesses
This creates sustainable sources of income that can exist in the long term.
Strengthening small local businesses
Small businesses are important drivers of regional development. Anula supports them through:
- Training and further education
- Access to capital and resources
- Networking with local markets
These businesses become multipliers that create jobs and promote economic stability.
Labour market development projects
In order to create long-term prospects, Anula promotes initiatives that:
- improve professional qualifications
- prepare young people for the labour market
- strengthen regional economic structures
This creates opportunities for people who previously had little access to stable employment opportunities.
Promoting education in Africa: school sponsorships create opportunities and a future
Education – creating opportunities, enabling futures
Education shapes personalities, opens up perspectives and is the foundation for democratic and peaceful societies. In many regions of Cameroon, however, access to education is severely restricted. Anula is committed to ensuring that children and young people have the opportunity to shape their own future.
How we promote education
Building and equipping schools
Anula supports the construction, renovation and equipping of schools so that learning can take place in a safe and supportive environment.
Covering education costs through school sponsorships
Many families cannot afford school fees, materials and basic equipment on their own. School sponsorships close this gap and enable children to attend school regularly.
Strengthening rural education structures
We support projects that assist teachers, provide learning materials and improve access to education in remote regions.
School sponsorships – education opens up the future
With a school sponsorship, you give a child much more than access to education. You give them hope, security and the opportunity to build a self-determined life.
Many families in rural regions of Africa are faced with the choice between basic necessities and education. A sponsorship through Anula relieves them of this burden and creates real opportunities for the future.
What a sponsorship achieves
- Regular school attendance School fees, materials and basic equipment are reliably covered.
- Fair opportunities for children from low-income families Education becomes a real possibility rather than a privilege.
- Long-term prospects Children can continue their schooling and obtain qualifications.
- Strengthening the entire community Education has an impact far beyond the individual child – it strengthens families, promotes local development and creates social stability.
How school sponsorship works
- You provide monthly or annual support for a child.
- Anula ensures that the funds go directly towards education.
- You receive regular updates on the progress of the projects.
- The sponsorship can be adjusted or terminated at any time.
Why school sponsorships are so important
Education is one of the most powerful levers for sustainable development. It promotes:
- independence
- economic prospects
- social stability
- democratic processes
By becoming a sponsor, you are actively helping to give young people a future that they can shape themselves.
